About Us –
‘Bengali or Bangla is the language native to the region of Bengal, which comprises the present-day nation of Bangladesh and of the Indian states West Bengal, Tripura and southern Assam. It is written using the Bengali alphabet. With about 220 million native and about 300 million total speakers, Bengali is one of the most spoken languages, ranked fifth in the world. The National Anthem of Bangladesh, National Anthem of India, National Anthem of Sri Lanka and the national song of India were first composed in the Bengali language.’

STRENGTH:
Strength of the department depends on the following fields:
- Academic
- Students’ enrolment
- Infrastructure
- Departmental Library
- ICT facility
- Academic:
Result is very good and is satisfactory.
- Students’ enrollment:
Not satisfactory student’s enrolment.
- Infrastructure:
Infrastructure is very good, because every facility is available.
The Departmental Faculty is dedicated, competent and copes with changing demands of the course curriculum.

WEAKNESS:
- Non-availability of Major Courses and insufficient student enrolment
- Only one post, but not sanctioned
- Only MIL- Bengali is provided to the Department. No Major course in the Department.
- Majority of the students are of poor merit.
- Infrastructural facilities are not enough.
- Fewer Departmental books are available in the Library.
Future Plan:
- To introduce a Wall Magazine in the Department. (Already done)
- To open Phonetics museum
- To open a Digital Class-room.
- To open a Cell of Comparative Literature.
- Opening up a Folk Culture study centre.
- To arrange a National and International Workshop Seminar
- To arrange a Dramatic Society, recitation Society and Little Magazine.
- To provide training on First-aid to students.
- To organize a Debate on Consciousness of Modern Feminism.
- To start Major Course
- To hold National, International level Workshop, Seminar etc.
- To work a Research Project.
OPPORTUNITY:
Existing Departmental infrastructure & Reference Books are available and the Internet facility is also available. Increase in the number of Departmental books in the Library.
CHALLENGES:
- Opening up of the Major Course.
- Progress in enrollment
- To improve hundred percent good result.
- Open ITC Learning System.
- To attract more students for the importance of Modern Indian Language.
- To reduce the drop-out rate, enhancing more progression of students’ to higher studies.
