INSTITUTIONAL CODE OF CONDUCT FOR STUDENTS:
Duliajan Girls’ College
CAMPUS RULES AND REGULATIONS:
The students who are enrolled into this college are expected to have certain minimum requirements in terms of their behavior, value system and intellectual capacity. Students are required to strictly follow in all their activities in the college, by following minimum code of conduct, violation of which would result in cancellation of their examination and automatic expulsion of their names from the rolls of the college.
Identity Card –
Each student at the time of admission will be issued an Identity badge which can be easily clipped to her any sleeve of upper garment. The card should bear a passport size photograph along with the signature of the college authority. Every student who enters the college premises is expected to wear the identity card, failing which the student will not be allowed to enter the college.
Dress Code –
Every student is expected to dress in a decent and proper manner to signify that they are students of Duliajan Girls’ College.
Every student is expected to dress in whit salwar kameez with green dupatta and black cardigan during winter. If they fail to meet this standard, the student may be sent home to change her clothes and receive a warning. If dress code violation continue, strict disciplinary action will be applied.
Mentor system-
In order to ensure overall development of the student, college has evolved a unique mentor system in keeping with the college motto- “Women power is a reservoir of all strength and energy to bring peace and prosperity to the world at their will”. Each student will be attached to a faculty member who has to advice, guide and discuss college related issues and activities. For this purpose, the students are required to meet the concerned faculty members every week or monthly.
Attendance-
All students are required to have minimum 75% attendance in each subject for e very semester failing which the concerned students will not be allowed to sit in the end semester examination
Use of mobile / Camera-
The college strictly prohibits the use of mobiles / Cameras during class hours. Any student found guilty of the same will be subjected to disciplinary action like a fine of 2000/which will have to be paid by the student and the mobile seized by the college. But whenever it is necessary solely for the academic activities, they will be allowed to bring the same.
Use of library –
Students should observe complete silence when they are in the library since the library is meant to be Centre of learning and hub of wisdom. So, students are expected read and follow the regulations notified on the library notice board from time to time.
Cleanliness –
Students are strictly prohibited from writing on the walls, desks and benches or from indulging in graffiti writing specially in the toilet. Anyone found doing so, will have to pay the cost of painting the wall or room as the case may be.
Sports –
Students are expected to practice for various sports competition and sports activities either early in the morning or after their class hours. Students who are attending sports practice or participating in competitive sports or games should ensure that their movement diary is signed by the sports instructor on day to day basis. They should also obtain the counter signature of the Principal for such sports activity once a week.
Use of Computer-
Every student who enters the computer room should ensure that they enter their name, class, roll no. etc. at the time of their entry in the register kept for the purpose. They should use the computer only as per the rules and regulations of the Computer Department. Any deviation in this regard will be considered as serious offence and will result in severe punishment including expulsion of the student from the college.
Code of conduct regarding election of college Student Union-
All the students who have minimum 75% attendance in all subjects for all the semesters are deemed eligible to be members of the college student union. For the purpose of smooth interaction and co- operation, the college authority may call for election from each class a minimum of two members. Such an election will be conducted during the normal working hours as per the academic calendar of the affiliated university. Students interested in representing their class is also elected through the electoral poll. The candidates who get elected are calibrated as per their efficiency. Students are not allowed to canvass like exhibition of Political, Religious or Community affiliation during the campaigning.
Proposal by students regarding college acuities –
The college carry out various scholastic activities and co-scholastic activities during the course of the academic year. These activities are organized and coordinated by the representative of student union and the group of students who have the creativity, interest and dedication. The students are requested to plan programmes with their own groups. They are required to put up their proposal in a brief written format to the Principal who will discuss the same with the faculty and after obtaining the approval of the faculty, the proposal will be put up for further action. Thereafter the group will be guided in organizing the programme under the supervisor who are the teachers of the college. In normal course, Principal of the college will be available in the office during usual working hours.
Students suggestion through Grievance Cell-
Principal and members of the teaching faculty meet once in every fortnight to plan the various activities of the college, review academic progress and also co-operate in the functioning of the college. Students may put up their suggestion or grievances into the drop box which are provided in the college campus and the grievances are resolved through the faculty meeting periodically.
Ban on plastic use and substance abuse –
Smoking, consumption of alcoholic drinks, use of plastic and use of substance abuse are strictly prohibited within the premises of the college and within the radius of 10 meters, beyond the college premises. Any person indulging in such activity is subject to suitable disciplinary action as per the existing law.
Ban on ragging in the college –
Ragging is banned in the college and anyone found indulging in ragging is likely to be punished which may include expulsion from the college. Ragging has been banned and made punishable offence as per the Prohibition of Ragging Act, 2008 of the Supreme Court.
Staff student relation –
The students are expected to maintain cordial and respectful relation with each of the staff. This should also ensure that this relationship is only for the purpose of studying in this college.
